Logging in to ARCH

  1. To log in to ARCH, connect to arch.bumc.bu.edu using a Remote Desktop client from Microsoft Windows, as previously established.

  2. If the login screen pictured below did not appear in the Remote Desktop window then double click on "The ARCH" icon on the desktop, or go to the Start button on the lower left of the window and select Programs -› ARCH -› The ARCH, and the login screen will appear.

  3. Type your user name and password in the initial login screen. Use TAB to move from the User ID field to the Password field, or click in the field.

  4. Choose the appropriate application you wish to start (for example, "the ARCH") from the checkboxes below the keyboard, or from the "Special" menu in the upper left. Selecting from the "Special" menu logs you in when you click the menu selection.

  5. Press the "OK" button or hit "RETURN" or "ENTER" if your cursor is in the Password field.

  6. If your user name or password is not correct you will get a popup error window.

  7. On a successful login to the ARCH you are prompted to select a patient, in the "Welcome to the Chart Room" window. If the MRN checkbox is selected, enter the Medical Record Number of the patient in the text field and hit "Enter" or press the "Open" button.

  8. You may also select the patient by typing in one or more characters beginning the last name and selecting the Name checkbox. Press the "Enter" key or the "Open" button and you will be given a list of matching patients.

  9. Click on a patient's name to select that patient and press the "Enter" key or the "OK" button.

  10. You are now at the main or Cover page for the selected patient.
